What is the biggest goal you aim to accomplish as the City Clerk?
The biggest goal I aim to accomplish is the records retention and document management system for the City of Modesto, which is an important aspect of a transparent government organization. It is a long, arduous process that began in 2006 and has a long way to go.
What is one thing the average citizen of Modesto might not know about the role of City Clerk?
The average citizen of Modesto might not know the role of the City Clerk does more than attend and record notes at City Council meetings. Among other tasks, my team has a leadership role over bid openings, Public Records Act requests, and citywide elections.
What’s one of your favorite or most significant memories?
My most significant memory is the death of my father when I was 16. My dreams and hopes for the future forever changed.
If you could invent something, what would it be and why?
If I could invent one thing, it would be a mind reader. I would love to read people’s minds during a City Council meeting!
What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives? Why?
One thing everyone should have in their lives is travel. Go out and see how beautiful the world is and meet some really wonderful people.
