Doug Ridenour Sr. was elected in 2015, to the Modesto City Council, as the District Six Representative. Doug served 41 years at the City of Modesto, police department. He started in 1972 as a reserve officer and worked in that capacity for 16 years prior to beginning his full-time career as a patrol officer 1988. After 25 years of service he retired in 2013. His work included patrol, detective work, tactical patrol unit, crime scene team, hostage negotiator, public information and ended as a Patrol Sergeant.
Doug completed his Bachelor Degree in Management from St. Mary’s College in Moraga, Ca. and Associates Degree from Modesto Junior College in Criminal Justice. In addition to serving the people of Modesto as a council member, he enjoys photography, camping and family time. Doug attends Cross Point Community Church and lives with his wife, Linda, of 34 years in the Northeast Modesto. Doug’s son is a Modesto Police Officer. Councilmember Ridenour passionately loves spending time with his grandchildren Kaitlyn and Tanner and his Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, Murray.
